KI Kompass

Cutting through the noise

Artificial intelligence arrived in classrooms faster than most institutions could prepare for it, and Luxembourg's Ministry of Education, Children and Youth (MENJE), together with SCRIPT, wanted to make sure schools weren't left to navigate it alone. The result is KI Kompass, a national platform offering teachers, school leaders and administrations a trustworthy compass for AI in education: a place to find the country's strategy, validated tools, practical classroom materials, training opportunities, and a national contact point for the legal and pedagogical questions that inevitably come up. It's an ambitious, public-facing initiative, and it needed an identity as clear and dependable as the guidance it provides.

We designed the KI Kompass logo, branding and website from the ground up. The name gave us our starting point: a compass, quite literally, pointing schools toward sound and considered use of AI rather than uncertainty or fear.

We built the visual identity around that idea of orientation, calm, confident, and approachable, so that a subject as new and occasionally intimidating as artificial intelligence would feel accessible to teachers navigating it for the first time, while consciously staying away from over-used compass-shaped symbology. The website contains strategy documents, a glossary, tool directories, event listings, downloadable classroom resources, all organised so that a busy educator can find exactly what they need.

We're most proud of how the design manages to feel official without feeling cold. KI Kompass speaks on behalf of a national ministry, but it also talks directly to teachers in classrooms across the country, not just policymakers. Giving that balance a coherent, trustworthy visual language was the challengeas well as the reward of this project.
